This recipe is always a hit in my house! It is also such a great dish to bring to a party:)
Ingredients
- 2 tps olive oil
- 1 minced onion, divided
- 1 large egg beaten
- 4 tablespoons of tomato paste, divided
- salt & pepper
- 2 lbs of ground turkey
- 2 cups of beef broth or beef bone broth
- 2 tablespoons of flour (I used gluten free)
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 tsp red wine vinegar
- 3-4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder, divided
- chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions
Sauté minced onion with olive oil until translucent and set aside to cool.
In a large bowl add ground turkey, half the tomato paste, salt and pepper, half the onion, 1/4 cup of the beef broth, 1 egg, 2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 tsp mustard powder. Mix well.
Gently shape into mini meatballs.
Add olive oil to a large pan and in batches cook the meatballs for about 5 minutes on each side. Just enough to brown the outside but so that they are not fully cooked.
Put meatballs into a crock pot with the remaining beef broth, tomato paste, onion, and Worcestershire sauce. Add the red wine vinegar.
Mix 1/2 cup of cold water with 2 tablespoons of flour. Make sure this is mixed very well and add to the crock pot.
Set crock pot to high and cook anywhere from 3-4 hours. Stir occasionally.
Server hot and garnish with chopped parsley.
